Originally published in 1848, 'Hudson Bay' was author R.M. Ballantyne's first published book. Rather than a story for children, for which he was later best-known, this is his account of his time working and adventuring in Canada during his youth. R.M. Ballantyne worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in Canada from the age of 16 – travelling around remote parts of the country to trade furs. This book describes his experiences and is a fascinating first-hand glimpse of the wilds of Canada during the mid-19th century.-
